2015 FRAM Chardonnay Robertson
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2015 Unwooded Chardonnay, which comes from W.O. Robertson and includes 10% skin ferment and a "bit" of Chenin Blanc, has a very aromatic bouquet with peach skin and fresh pear, a touch of paw paw coming through with aeration. The palate is well balanced, rounded in the mouth, lower acidity than its peers and with a lovely white pepper note on the finish. Enjoy this over the next 2-3 years. (NM)
Thinus Krüger, CEO/President/Winemaker/Grape Crusher is the sole employee of FRAM, the source of these remarkable "wines of exploration." When K&L South African wines buyer Ryan Woodhouse first tasted his wines with Pascal Schildt, the small, specialist South African importer who brings us these wines, he was truly blown away by the quality, purity, depth and VALUE of the entire range! This unoaked Chard is sourced from a unique vineyard in Robertson that has some of South Africa's only calcium soil deposits. This gives the wine a lovely mineral undercurrent to complement the bright, ripe, yellow stone fruits and soft elegant texture. To add more intrigue, Thinus blends 8% whole bunch, skin fermented Chenin Blanc to the wine to enhance texture, structure and add "zippiness"! Great everyday Chard with much more depth and intrigue than the small price point suggests, thanks to our importer direct pricing.
