2014 Viña Mein Ribeiro

SKU #1250917

This is far and away the best vintage of Viña Mein that I can recall. Considered by some the "Grandfather of Galicia," proprietor Javier Alén is clearly moving things forward at this venerable property located in th D.O. of Ribeiro, due east of Rias Baixas. Primarily a Treixadura based blend, Godello, Loureiro, Torrontes, Albariño and Albilla are also cultivated. Juicy apricot, yellow fruit and fruit cocktail flavors show loads of freshness and typicity. This manages a lovely balance between lees driven richness and fresh fruit flavors. Tasty stuff. - With more land under vine than any other country in the world, Spain is the great sleeping wine giant. In recent years, a great deal of money and passion has been poured in the burgeoning Spanish wine industry, helping to improve quality among its vast array of wines from sparkling Cava to Sherry to Rioja Gran Reserva. The most important red-wine-producing regions are Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Navarra in the north and Priorat and Penedes in the northeast.
