2015 Bedrock Wine Company "Ode to Lulu" Rosé
Named in honour of Lulu Peynaud, the legendary chatelaine of Bandol’s Domaine Tempier, this Mourvèdre rosé bursts with watermelon, spring flowers, citrus and spice preface a fresh, supple wine with a savoury finish crying out for a Provençal feats. Morgan Twain-Peterson is one of the great exponents of California’s old vine heritage, and this bottling hails from a vineyard planted in the 1940s! (WK)
Morgan Twain-Peterson may be the most talented young winemaker in United States. How could he not be, growing up in vineyards beside his well-known father, winemaker Joel Peterson (Ravenswood). Morgan has done exceptionally well in the eyes of the press, and us here at K&L, with his label Bedrock. His wines are thoughtfully crafted small production bottlings from old vines located in “heritage” vineyards throughout California. Hard to come by, these Bedrock wines already have a loyal and rabid following that just keeps growing year after year. We are lucky to secure one of Morgan’s less talked-about wines in the Bedrock series, his lovely Mouvedre-dominated rosé. Here is a rosé that, in a recent vintage, was scored 91 points by Robert Parker—high marks for a crisp, quaffable rosé!
