 This wine was bottled only two weeks before I tasted it; as such it's not surprising that some would display some residual sulfur. A classic Chassagne aromatic profile of orchard fruit, resin and a hint of petrol gives way to rich, round and relatively full-bodied flavors that possess excellent complexity before concluding in a lemony and strikingly long finish. This succulent effort is impeccably well-balanced and I would note that it's also a bit finer than it usually is. Worth checking out.  (6/2015)

 The 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chenevottes has a more reserved bouquet than the les Encegnieres, yet more complex with nuanced wet stone and light waxy scents. The palate is fresh and vibrant, tense and citric and this combines well with the lightly honeyed fruit toward the finish. My only quibble is that it cuts off just a little prematurely at the moment, but maybe that will fill out by the time of bottling. We will see. (NM)  (12/2014)

- The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. Chassagne Montrachet

- A long, wandering village in the Côte de Beaune. Fortunately, what the workaday village lacks in charm, the wines more than make up for. Most famous for its white wines, which are lovely and delicate, Chassagne-Montrachet actually produces more red than white wine. It is one of the few places in the Côte D'Or where both red and white wines are produced from Premier Cru vineyards. The Grands Crus are Montrachet, Bâtard Montrachet (both shared with the neighboring village of Puligny) and Criots Bâtard Montrachet.
