2013 McPrice Myers "Right Hand Man" Central Coast Syrah
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
An interesting blend of 88% Syrah, 6% Petite Sirah and 6% Viognier, the value priced 2013 Right Hand Man gives up tons of spice, cedar, scorched earth and mulled black fruits in its medium to full-bodied, charming and moderately concentrated profile. Brought up in French, Hungarian and American oak (10% new), drink this sexy charmer over the coming 2-3 years. I always love the wines from McPrice Myers, and these latest releases are no exception. McPrice likes plenty of whole cluster, and his 2013s all have a firm edge to the tannin, so give bottles a few years in the cellar. It's also worth pointing out the incorporation of McPrice's Barrel 27 label into his McPrice Myers wines. (JD)
From the producer: "Right Hand Man is a blend of Syrah form vineyards situated on the West Side of Paso Robles and in the Santa Ynez Valley, it is easy drinking and approachable. Licorice, sage, chocolate, violet, anise, leather, blackberry, grilled herbs, allspice, plum, smoke, juicy mouth feel with a velvety soft, rounded finish."
