2013 Alximia "Aqua" Red Blend Baja California
Petit Verdot (Valle de Santo Tomás), Zinfandel (Valle de Guadalupe), Garnacha/Grenache (Valle de Guadalupe). According to the winery: "The Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California, Mexico is the largest wine producing region in the country. The mediterranean climate and soil give this area unique qualities that are inherited into the character and personality of the wines that are produced here. Assemblage of 3 varietals vinified separately in small batches with pre-selected yeasts, aged in French oak for 12 months, each varietal is fermented and aged separately until final assemblage before bottling. Intense fruit aromas mixed with hints of licorice and menthol, fresh raspberry and strawberry stand, a hint of lavender, violet. Great aromatic intensity. With a clean attack, well balanced acidity, astringency and alcohol, feels full in the mouth, an explosion of flavors that leave a light but pleasant long aftertaste. Confirms the olfactory promise. Pleasant soft tannins from the barrel aging. We recommend this wine with soft dishes such as pasta, cheese, fish in its various preparations, and seafood."
