2013 Alximia "Libis" Red Blend Baja California
Petit Verdot (Valle de Santo Tomás), Zinfandel (Valle de Guadalupe), Syrah (Valle de Guadalupe). According to the winery: "The Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California, Mexico is the largest wine producing region in the country. The mediterranean climate and soil give this area unique qualities that are inherited into the character and personality of the wines that are produced here. Assemblage of 3 varietals vinified separately in small batches with pre-selected yeasts, aged in French oak for 12 months, each varietal is fermented and aged separately until final assemblage before bottling. Pleasant fruity and floral aromas with a hint of roasted coffee and cocoa, with cranberry, fresh blackberry and strawberry standing out, with a hint of menthol, lavender and violet. Medium aromatic intensity evolves positively over time. With a clean attack, well balanced acidity, astringency and alcohol feels full in the mouth, good body. Friendly silkiness, pleasant soft tannins from the barrel aging. Confirms the olfactory promise. Excellent evolution in the glass. We recommend this wine with light desserts, mousses, ceviche, light cheeses, cold meats and salads."
