2012 Les Pagodes de Cos, St-Estèphe
Named after the Chinese facade of this most extraordinary of wineries, this wine is ripe and smooth in a style that brings out richness and a round character. It’s already totally integrated, solid while also very generous. (RV)
This has very well-integrated tannins with dark fruits and blueberry. Medium body, with fine tannins and a pretty finish. Refined. I like the balanced fruit. Lacks some middle palate, but clean. Second wine of Cos d’Estournel.
Good spice and depth of fruit, both meaty and elegant, lovely wine. (SS)
Very appetising nose. Sweet and slightly simple. Easy and appealing. Very firm tannins. No third wine. 'I want to pay a big tribute to JG [Jean-Guillaume Prats] and our winemaker as this is the result of hard selection in the vineyards', said new director Aymeric de Gironde.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Their second wine, the 2012 Les Pagodes de Cos (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot), exhibits soft tannins, a deep ruby/purple color, sweet plum, black cherry fruit, a round, generous mouthfeel and excellent purity and depth. (RP)
The 2012 Les Pagodes de Cos is quite open and expressive today. Silky, polished tannins wrap around a core of red-fleshed fruits, sweet tobacco, cinnamon, crushed flowers and dried cherries. Drink this forward, juicy Saint-Estèphe over the next handful of years. (AG)
