 The 2013 Sicilia Nero d'Avola Lamùri Tenuta Regaleali represents an impressive achievement. Grapes are sourced from vineyards between 450 and 750 meters above sea level and the wine is aged in mostly neutral oak (with 20% new oak) for one year. The high altitude vineyards have shaped the focused and linear aromas of wild berry and dried cherry. The wood regime has added delicate layers of carob seed and powdered chocolate. This is a very exciting vintage of Lamùri, thanks to its overall balance and intensity. (ML)  (12/2015)

Lamuri is not only a terrific introduction to Nero d'Avola but also a wonderful Southern Italian red. The winery manages to produce a Nero d'Avola brimming with fresh plum and berry flavors along with hints of dried herbs, mineral and spice while avoiding the overripe fruit so often found in wines of this varietal. Lamuri is medium-to-full bodied, round, flavorful and ideal with a wide variety of meats, pastas and cheeses. This is an outstanding value red that definitely exceeds expectation.

A beautiful nose full of rose and cherry with the slightest hints of vanilla. On the palate the full fruit flavors get recreated on with broadly textured feel while still retaining good acidity, vibrant and focused. The finish is full flavored, long and reminds me I should have a fork in one hand to drink this with some Pasta! Alla Norma would be ideal!
