2006 J. Bookwalter "Protagonist" Columbia Valley Red Blend
Rich, with layers of mint- and tobacco-infused black cherry, blackberry and cedar flavors that ride easily over a mild grip of tannins to a long, expressive finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah, and others.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2006 Protagonist is a blend of 63% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance Petit Verdot, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc. It received the same upbringing as the two Foreshadow wines. It displays an enticing bouquet of cigar box, earth notes, spice box, black cherry, and black raspberry. Plush on the palate with refined tannins, it has plenty of tasty red fruit, impeccable balance, and a pure, fruit-filled finish. It will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and will deliver prime drinking from now to 2021. (JM)
Big, smooth and loaded with smoky oak, this substantial Bordeaux blend comes at you with lots of cherry, cassis, licorice, and dark chocolate. It's muscular and authoritative, with Red Mountain minerality.
