The Rum Society #65 Pot Still Blended (Guyana, Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad) Rum (750ml)
The Rum Society is one of the most ambitious new products on the market today. The result of years of development and a desire to offer authentic pot stilled rums in their true form, without the additional of caramel coloring, sugar syrups or other adulterants. The idea is to offer true pot stilled rums from authentic historical distilleries which are not on the market today. The products are much closer to what our fledgling nation would have been consuming for a significant portion of its history, but after prohibition the full flavored nature of pot still rum fell out of favor. Now you can experience true pot still rum in its unadulterated form. The #65 is the most unusual (not in flavor, but in terms of production) and complex of the three offerings from the Rum Society. This special Rum starts with a base of Guyanese double pot still, the old famous wooden Port Morant still. Then the gorgeous delicate rum from Barbados is added along with a very special cane juice based Trinidad pot still rum that has been aged for almost 8 years. The result is the softest, roundest of the three offerings, but has plenty of depth thanks to the unaged rums from Guyana and Barbados. Here we have more pepper and spice with a healthy helping of vanilla, cacao, and aromas of raw sugar. This is the most sippable of the three offerings, but also does wonders in classics like the Presidente, a rum & tonic, or a rum Old Fashioned.
