2006 Amaury Coutelas Vintage Brut Champagne

SKU #1211455

Angelique and Damien have 17 and one half acres, mostly in Villers sous Chatillon, but also in Ambonny, Bouzy, Vitry la Francois, and Troissy. Their family has been growing since 1809 and started making their own Champagnes in the 20s. This half and half blend of Meunier and Pinot Noir come from estate vines that average over 70 years old--among the oldest I have ever heard of in Champagne. The wine is vinified in stainless steel and finished with only six grams per liter of dosage. It is a very full-bodied wine, with super power in the middle, yet refreshing on the finish. This great new (but only new to the US!) producer is one to notice!

Their 2006 Amaury Coutelas Vintage Brut Champagne is a blend of even parts Meunier and Pinot Noir from 70 year old vines. This is mostly stainless steel fermented Champagne and shows the power and ripeness of the vintage. It is a very full-bodied wine, with super power in the middle, yet refreshing on the finish- a characteristic that runs through their range of Champagnes. We only received five cases of this, and it is dosed at just six grams per liter.

Champagne

- The French region of Champagne (comprised of the towns of Rheims, Epernay, and Ay) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and winemaking traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range from the basic brut (often blends of several vintages), single vintage champagnes, and rose. View our bestselling Champagne.
