2013 Cannonball Sonoma County Chardonnay
Wine & Spirits
Warm and buttery, this ends on a burst of tropical ripeness, a sweet pineapple tang driven by an edge of volatility. It’s stylized, but there’s flavorful fruit at the center.
Creamy vanilla complements a medium use of oak in this weighty, tropical wine, given to pineapple, peach and Meyer lemon flavor. Straight forward, inexpensive and intended to be a crowd pleaser, it hits those marks, finishing ripe and layered.
From the Winery: "To preserve this extraordinary vintage, we harvested the grapes at 24 brix and whole cluster pressed the fruit. The Chardonnay was then fermented and aged in 50% French oak and 50% stainless steel with 40% going through malolactic fermentation, creating a wine both authentic and wonderfully balanced. Heady notes of orchard apple, lemon curd, nectarine and wild honeysuckle veiled with hints of almond. Striking yet expansive, it develops over the palate with sophisticated creaminess and racy acidity. Captivating flavors of white peach, brioche and quince compote layered with exotic hints of vanilla and saffron, with an enigmatic, enduring finish."
