2007 D.R. Stephens "Moose Valley Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Firm, ripe and generous, offering rich, vivid blackberry, raspberry and wild berry flavors that are pure and focused, with touches of mineral and black licorice. Full-bodied, this expands on the finish, where the flavors fan out and gain subtle touches. Best from 2011 through 2021. 750 cases made. (JL)
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
(from the estate vineyard on lower Howell Mountain Road , planted on a combination of decomposed volcanic ash and redder, more nutrient-rich soil) Bright ruby. Deeper and riper on the nose than the Walther River Block, with aromas of cassis, black raspberry and bitter chocolate. Offers good density and depth of flavor, with sweet dark berry flavors complicated by minerals and bitter chocolate. Finishes with big, broad, nicely sweet tannins.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The most impressive wine of this trio is the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Moose Valley Vineyard (100% Cabernet Sauvignon). More blackberry and black currant notes intermixed with notions of licorice, smoke, and plums are followed by a round, generously endowed, medium to full-bodied Cabernet that should last for 10+ years.
