2011 Epoch "Authenticity - Paderewski Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend

SKU #1181620 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Even better, with another notch on the richness scale, the 2011 Authenticity boasts fabulous aromatics of creme de cassis, black raspberry, toasted bread, licorice and crushed flowers to go with a full-bodied, decadent and yet seamless style on the palate. A blend of 66% Syrah, 33% Mourvedre and a splash of Viognier that was harvest at the end of October/early November and aged 17 months in 60% new French oak, it’s already hard to resist, but will evolve gracefully for over a decade. The 2011 Authenticity is gorgeous. Silky, voluptuous and layered in the glass, the 2011, is laced with blue and purplish fruit, spices, mint and new leather. Sweet floral and spice notes add lift on the finish. This is a decidedly feminine, gracious wine that impresses for its overall balance. (AG) (7/2014)

93 points Wine Enthusiast

Opaquely purple in color, this Syrah-Mourvèdre blend (with 1% Viognier that co-fermented with the Syrah) boasts a brooding black cherry, pipe tobacco and tarragon nose. Then it delivers a much more nuanced palate, with very ripe blackberry, oaky vanilla and a tartness on the backend. It's well integrated, with some tannins to make it last. Drink now with a porterhouse steak, or hold until 2020 and track the sure-to-be-exciting evolution. *Cellar Selection* (MK) (9/2014)

91 points Wine Spectator

Dense, firm and tannic, this is well-built, with a backbone of blackberry and black licorice. The tannins hang tight, but there's wiggle room on the finish, where the red fruit becomes more prominent. (JL) (7/2014)

Paso Robles

- Located about halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, this inland AVA enjoys a sunny and hot growing period while its seaside neighbors hang in the fog. Zinfandel is the traditional red grape of choice, though cabernet, chardonnay, and Rhône varietals are gaining favor. Most are made in a fruit-forward, early drinking style.
