2009 Lancaster "Nicole's Red" Alexander Valley Bordeaux Blend
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2009 Proprietary Red Blend Nicole's is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based Bordeaux blend. At once powerful yet refined, the 2009 impresses for its intensity. Firm tannins support layers of expressive dark red fruit. The 2009 comes across as slightly burly and just a bit less polished than the 2010, a typical comparison of these two vintages across many wines. However, the 2009 remains a sexy wine with plenty of near and medium-term appeal. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)
*Cellar Selection* This wine is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Malbec. It shows the big, hard tannins of both varieties, as well as their dryness and intense blackberry, currant and dark chocolate flavors. The 100% new French oak is in balance with the size of the underlying fruit. Don’t even think of popping the cork before 2015, and it should still be providing pleasure in 2021.
Intensely herbal and rustic, with loamy earth, crushed rock, dried berry and cedar, this is a wine that will require some cellaring or aeration. Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Best from 2014 through 2022. (Web-2013)
