2011 Kistler "Kistler Vineyard" Sonoma Valley Chardonnay
The 2011 Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard is totally closed in on itself today. Here the flavors are intensely mineral-inflected and saline. Crushed rocks and citrus lead to sweet floral and spiced notes but the 2011 remains first and foremost a wine of texture and balance. Today, it is drop-dead gorgeous, even though the elements haven't fully come together yet.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2011 Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard displays a Corton-Charlemagne-like character with lots of wet stones and white currants, a strong minerality intermixed with acacia flower, peach and honey characteristics. This beautiful, subtle but authoritatively flavored, full-bodied white can be enjoyed over the next 5-6 years. (RP)

Pale chartreuse color. Spicy, sharply focused aromas of nectarine, orange zest, iodine and white flowers. Stains the palate with intense, mineral-laced citrus and pit fruit flavors, complemented by intense ginger and honeysuckle accents. Finishes stony and very long, with echoing florality and strong spicy bite. (ST)
Ultrarich, with exotic, honey-laced fig, apricot and Asian pear flavors, backed by leesy tannins that give this a wet stone, crushed rock minerality and a cleansing aftertaste. (JL)
