2009 Araujo "Eisele" Napa Valley Syrah
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2009 Syrah Eisele Vineyard stands out for its textural elegance and finesse. Dark berries, flowers and mint are some of the many nuances that come together in this silky, totally captivating wine. The 2009 has never been the most varietally expressive Syrah from the Eisele Vineyard, but it is exceptionally polished, sexy and pure. Sweet floral notes add lift and a measure of brightness on the finish. (AG)
*Highly Recommended* Gorgeous, very rich and polished, dark and seductive, with blackberry, mocha, spice, mineral and cedar notes. Yet it's the completeness, density and focus that pulls it all together. Ends with fine-grained tannins. (JL)
This is just one component of the final blend. It is a vineyard that was planted in 1964. It is block 3, and it was always i the Eisele Vineyards and it went into the 1971 Ridge and 1974 Conn Creek. Joe used to call it gold. This is full bodied and rich with a beautiful sea shell and olive character. Very fine on the palate with chewy tannins. Complex and beautiful, with loads going on.

Saturated medium ruby. Tight but nuanced nose hints at cassis, cocoa powder, licorice pastille, spices and gunflint. Dense, rich and savory, with dark berry and chocolate flavors dominating the palate. Finishes with big, ripe tannins and a lingering saline quality. I missed the floral lift that this wine can show in the cooler years. (ST)
