2011 Schrader "CCS Beckstoffer To Kalon" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Usually my favorite cuvee, the Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard CCS is a beauty in 2011. Made in a showy, flamboyant style, it boasts a dense ruby/purple color as well as sweet notes of creme de cassis, violets, licorice, forest floor and new oak. This supple, round effort is one of the superstars of this challenging vintage. It should drink well for 10-15 years or longer. (RP)
The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon CCS Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is classic Schrader. Layers of dark blue/black fruit, smoke, licorice, mocha, mint, violets and orange peel gradually unfold in a striking wine endowed with superb balance, class and nuance. Everything is wonderfully delineated, yet the 2011 has plenty of the richness Schrader fans are used to. Here it is the Clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon that speaks with great eloquence.
Offers enticing aromas of plum and red berry, with edgy tannins framing the tight, dense core of red berry, black licorice, cedar and gravel. Ends with gutsy, chewy tannins. Drink now through 2022.
