2007 The Royal Tokaji Wine Company Szt. Tamás Aszú 6 Puttonyos (500ml)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2007 Tokaji Aszu Szt Tamas 6-Puttonyos has perhaps the most complex bouquet of the three single-vineyard aszu wines, adorned with dried honey, Japanese yuzu, just a hint of petrol and stewed mandarins that are all beautifully defined. The palate is extremely well-balanced with wonderful acidity that is embroidered through the pure mandarin, honey, quince and lemon peel. It is very focused with a tense, mineral finish. (NM)
An opulent version, featuring a thick texture moderated by vivid acidity. Powerful, showing drive to the apricot, peach, vanilla and butterscotch flavors. Well-balanced, with a long finish. 213 cases made. Web Only-2014 (BS)
Wine & Spirits
From a vineyard of red volcanic soils on a slope behind the winery, this is a shade darker than any other vineyard bottling in the 2007 lineup, with firm, pronounced minerality in its flavor. The balance of earthy savor and honeycomb richness makes it particularly succulent, each sip begetting an urge for another even as the flavors stick to the palate.
Aromas of butterscotch, honeyed apricot, beeswax and honeysuckle transfer seamlessly onto the palate and are joined by flavors of sweet golden raisins and vanilla caramel. There’s nice balance between sweetness and acidity, and a delightful touch of creaminess graces the finish. (JJ)
Hugely intense and broad and carelessly talented sort of thing. So obviously top quality. Just brilliant. Layered and both structured and opulent. (18/20 points)
