2007 Booker "Vertigo 28 Months" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (Previously $100)

SKU #1122262

This bottling of Booker's 2007 Vertigo is a special selection that saw its elevage extended to 28 months in barrel and was bottled separately from the regular release. This bottling was not professionally reviewed, but the regular bottling garnered 93 points from both Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar. Robert Parker wrote of the regular bottling: "The dense purple-colored 2007 Vertigo, a blend of 75% Syrah and 25% Grenache, exhibits the blackberry and creme de cassis characteristics of Syrah along with new saddle leather, coffee, and graphite, a certain minerality, and a long, velvety, opulent mouthfeel." (8/2009)

United States

- When people consider domestic wine, they normally think about the state of California. The fine viticultural Region within California, including the Napa Valley, Sonoma, Santa Cruz Mountains, Mendocino and Santa Barbara, are capable of growing grapes of world-class quality. But there's plenty of fabulous wine coming from other states, too. Oregon, Washington and New York are also causing eyebrows (and glassware) to be raised around the world. - With the explosive growth that California's wine industry has seen the past several years, it's easy to view winemaking and grape growing in the Golden State as a recent phenomenon. And while it's true that California's viticultural history is brief compared to several European countries, this state's roots date back well over 200 years. Due to the enormous response to California wine within the United States and worldwide, there are thousands of excellent and diverse wines being produced within the state each year. Paso Robles

- Located about halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, this inland AVA enjoys a sunny and hot growing period while its seaside neighbors hang in the fog. Zinfandel is the traditional red grape of choice, though cabernet, chardonnay, and Rhône varietals are gaining favor. Most are made in a fruit-forward, early drinking style.
