2001 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
Wonderfully perfumed, with rose, blackberry and a hint of wet earth. Full-bodied, with layers of silky tannins and a long, long finish. Structured. Hard not to drink now, but will be even better with a little more bottle age.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Bright, dark ruby-red. A v ibrant Brunello with crisp, mineral-tinged aromas of violet, sour red cherry, pipe tobacco and licorice, all lifted by a note of citrussy white pepper. Nicely delineated and sweet on the palate, with strong raspberry and hazelnut notes dominating. This subtle and deceptively concentrated wine finishes with incredibly fine-grained tannins and outstanding length. One of the best and most refined Riservas of the vintage.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Fuligni’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva reveals a focused, poised personality with sweet raspberries, crushed flowers and spices that emerge from the glass. The tannins are sweet and polished, yet this classically built, structured Brunello will require some patience. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2021.
