From a site made famous by Mike Officer at Carlisle, the 2007 Zinfandel Feeney Vineyard’s dense ruby/purple color is followed by a big, floral, boysenberry, black raspberry, and blackberry-scented bouquet. Rich, full-bodied, and substantial (14.7% alcohol), with good acidity and a long finish, it, too, should drink well for 7-8 years. (RP)

Ruby-red. Intensely perfumed nose evokes fresh raspberry, smoky minerals and fresh flowers. Pure red and dark berry flavors expand with air while maintaining impressive clarity, picking up a candied rose quality on the back end. Pinot-like in its focus and clarity, with excellent finishing lift and nervy cut. This wine was raised in two- and three-year-old barrels. (ST)

Here's a big, rich, full-bodied Zin that calls for equally big foods, like tri-tip, barbecued ribs and Szechuan-style beef. Although it's extremely dry, it's fruity, with flavors of blackberries, mulberries and plums, accented with spices, sassafras and grilled meat.

Dense and briary, offering concentrated blueberry, black cherry and cracked pepper flavors, and finishing with firm, herbal tannins. (TF, Web-2010)
