2005 Freemark Abbey "Bosche" Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon
*Cellar Selection* Drier and earthier than many Napa Cabs these days, this wine has subtle sage and sweet licorice that grounds its fruitier flavors of blackberries, cherries and raspberries. Very beautiful are the tannins, which are rich and pure, suggesting perfect ripeness. The small Bosché bottling has been a premier one for the winery for many years, and this ’05 is one of the best in memory.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Bosché comes from a vineyard that sits on the gravelly, stony soils of the Rutherford Bench. It is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot, aged 24 months in French oak prior to bottling. This wine shows plenty of new, velvety glove leather, cedar wood, kirsch and blacker currants. It is full-bodied, ripe, but wonderfully elegant and pure, with a voluptuous texture. This vineyard is totally dry-farmed. (RP)
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Good red-ruby. Musky aromas of plum, earth and sweet, nutty oak. Supple and savory, with intriguing floral and earthy perfume adding interest and energy to the plum, redcurrant and tobacco flavors. A rather suave and subtly intense wine with a firm edge of acids and tannins and plenty of flavor interest. (ST)
