2006 Williams Selyem "Flax Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Deep ruby. Spicy raspberry and blackberry on the nose, complicated by zesty minerals and pungent herbs. Suave, juicy and fresh, with energetic dark berry flavors, silky texture and excellent lift. Offers a deft blend of depth and intensity, finishing with superb clarity and thrust.
Fairly tannic and very dry, with ripe, jammy flavors of cherries and raspberries that taste like they were baked into a pie sprinkled with cocoa and cinnamon, and then drizzled with anisette liqueur. Should develop additional bottle complexity over the next six years.
Firm in texture and structure, this is full-bodied, intense and concentrated, with layers of black cherry, wild berry, mineral, anise and spice. Tightly wound, so cellar time is appropriate. Best from 2010 through 2016. (JL)

From another Russian River vineyard, the 2006 Pinot Noir Flax Vineyard displays pomegranate, crushed rocks, some background oak, and a sweet, elegant, broad mouthfeel with some blacker fruits in the finish. (RP)
Allen Meadows - Burghound
An expressive and notably ripe nose of attractive spice and freshly crushed berry aromas that are very much in keeping with the detailed, energetic and persistent flavors that also display a touch of dryness on the otherwise lingering finish. (AM)
