 Good full yellow. Explosive aromas of orange, smoked meat, coconut and dried almond. Large-scaled and thick but not at all heavy; conveys an impression of solidity but its seamless, spherical texture gives it uncanny refinement for all its power. Not at all a fruity style: apricot and citrus flavors are currently overshadowed by mint and minerals. Finishes with outstanding persistence. 'Our Criots or Batard-Montrachet,' notes Nic Morlet.  The 2006 Chardonnay Point Rouge (285 cases) is one of the candidates for Chardonnay of the vintage. A seamlessly ripe, rich, full-bodied Chardonnay, notes of hazelnut, white peach, smoke, pears, tropical fruits are all present in this wine, which has great intensity, beautiful acidity, and tremendous purity.
