2014 Bisson "U Pastine" Bianchetta Genovese Golfo del Tigullio

SKU #1063415

"U Pastine" in the Ligurian dialect means, essentially "a gift that is specially crafted by someone for someone in particular in order to be an extra special present." This wine would fit that description. Bianchetta Genovese is a very rare grape grown in the area south of Genoa. It is usually just part of a field blend with other grapes (if you've even been fortunate enough to visit the Cinque Terre and enjoy a crispy glass of white wine, this grape was probably in it). But Bisson was the first to vinify it as it's own varietal. This wine is super snappy, with citrus, sea spray, wet stone, and an wild coastal scrub nose. Great acidity, with a taut but generous mouthfeel, and mesmerizingly clean finish. It would be hard to find a better seafood or salad wine (or seafood salad wine!). If you like Vermentino, Verdicchio, Muscadet or Vinho Verde, you'll love this wine.
