2004 Turley "Dragon Vineyard" Howell Mountain Zinfandel
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2004 Zinfandel Dragon Vineyard is a spectacularly concentrated effort with 15.9% alcohol as well as beautifully sweet, jammy black cherry, raspberry, and plum fruit intermixed with notions of white flowers, earth, and crushed rocks. (RP)

Good ruby-red. Aromatic nose combines blueberry and blackberry liqueur, licorice and flowers. Dense, peppery and sweet, with briary berry flavors complemented by dark chocolate. Finishes with chewy, building tannins and a flavor of black cherry.
Turley Wine Cellars makes thirty-four wines, the vast majority of which are single vineyard designate Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. By focusing on old vine vineyards in particular, Turley aims to both create and preserve California’s unique winemaking culture. All of the vineyards are either certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers or somewhere in the process, and they use all natural yeasts in the fermentations.
