2008 Kistler Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Vivid red. Drop-dead gorgeous perfume of raspberry preserves, Asian spices and fresh rose, with a deeper suggestion of violet. Sappy, penetrating and pure, with strikingly intense red fruit flavors underpinned by tangy minerality. Finishes with resonating spiciness and a lingering floral note. This wine's clarity is striking.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2008 Pinot Noir (made from a Calera clone) exhibits a dark ruby hue as well as notes of plums, blueberries, brioche, flowers, raspberries, and pomegranate. Medium-bodied, fresh, and lively, it should drink nicely for a decade.
Offers a trim, complex beam of intense dark berry fruit, which joins a mix of wild berry and raspberry notes. Medium- to full-bodied, showing good acidity and a clean, fruity finish. Drink now through 2019.
While most other Kistler Pinots will make you wait, the 2008 Sonoma Coast is already forthcoming with a little decanting. Its sumptuous nose is redolent of spring flowers and exotic spice, while it's perfumed and juicy on the palate, with black raspberry, spice and mineral notes that continue onto the wine's floral finish.
