K&L Notes

The Collard-Picard "Prestige" Brut Champagne is composed of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 25% Meunier. Made mostly from grand and 1er cru wines, this comprises the best first pressings, benefiting from vinification without malolactic fermentation then aging in oak casks for close to a year. Four different vintages blended together plus three years of aging in the cellar make this exceptionally complex at this price. It has the perfect balance of finesse, fruitiness and personality.

Comprised of only Grand Cru & 1er Cru vineyards is the NV Collard-Picard "Prestige" Brut Champagne. This cuvee of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 25% Meunier showcases only the best first pressings. Oak aging and 3 years on the lees lends to a bouquet of toasty and red fruit aromatics and a palate that pairs perfectly with almost every holiday occasion.

This is the top of the line in the portfolio of the new Collard-Picard winery. Through their family connections, they have access to some of the best fruit in Champagne. This bottle is wonderful - bright and rich with lovely, high toned flavors over a dense core of yeast and red fruits. Age this forever, or drink it now and love it!

Collard Picard produce such wonderful Champagnes that it would be hard to pick a favorite one. The Prestige is a dry and delicate style Champagne that has lots of flavors packed into its clean and crisp frame. It tastes great alone but will be great with fish or chicken. I even had the Collard Picard Prestige with cheese and really enjoyed it.

- When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them.

- The French region of Champagne (comprised of the towns of Rheims, Epernay, and Ay) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and winemaking traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range from the basic brut (often blends of several vintages), single vintage champagnes, and rose.
