2006 Lail Vineyards "Blueprint" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (Previously $50)
Dramatic Cabernet Sauvignon, very dark in color and utterly ripe and balanced to the taste. Shows an enormity of blackberries, cherries and milk chocolate, made firm and grounded by grippy tannins. Made solidly in the modern cult style and thus appealing now for its sheer deliciousness.
Blueberries and flowers on the nose and palate. Full body, with round tannins and a fruity, juicy finish. Ready to go, but will improve with age.

Another new offering is the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueprint, which is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot aged in 50% new oak. It is meant to be a reasonably good value by the standards of Napa Valley Cabernet, and it fulfills that task admirably. The deep ruby/purple hue is accompanied by notes of chocolate, black currants, earth, and spice. Medium to full-bodied and soft, it is ideal for drinking over the next decade. (RP)
