2003 Williams Selyem "Forchini" Russian River Valley Zinfandel
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Deep medium ruby. Brooding aromas of black fruits, ripe raspberry, earth and oak; a bit more typical of Zinfandel than the Feeney bottling. Sweet, generous and pliant, with great depth of fruit. With its slightly more open-knit texture and lower acidity, this comes across as a tad warmer than the other 2003 Zinfandels at this address. Finishes broad and dry. All three of these bottlings are from vines at least 90 years old. (ST)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2003 Zinfandel Forchini Vineyard exhibits a dense purple color, big, gamey, sweet, briery fruit, full-bodied, powerful flavors, and a huge finish. A big, in-your-face style of Zinfandel, it should drink well for 5-8 years. (RP)
True to form, winemaker Bob Cabral has crafted a humungous Zin, with 16.2% alcohol and the ripest flavors imaginable. Dry, with tremendous blackberry and cherry marmalade flavors that finish in a swirl of vanilla, spice and chocolate.
