2003 Pride Mountain Sonoma County Sangiovese (500ml)
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
(for 500 ml.) Medium red. Sweet cherry, tobacco and nutty oak, all lifted by a floral topnote: this smells like sangiovese! Then sweet and supple but juicy, with lovely minty lift to the red fruit and tobacco flavors. Finishes firmly tannic and quite long. Highly successful California sangiovese.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The limited production 2003 Sangiovese, which includes 10% Merlot, is only available at the winery. Copious quantities of strawberry, earth, and leathery aromas are followed by a medium-bodied Sangiovese. (RP)
The cult following for Pride Mountain has been in full force for years now. Situated high up at the top of Spring Mountain, the winery straddles the Sonoma/Napa county line and commands a spectacular view of Mount St Helena. The property was a winery well over 100 years ago, and now produces some of the more sought after wines in California. The reviewers tend to agree with the collectors, as the wines regularly achieve fantastic scores in numerous respected publications
