2000 Colgin "Tychson Hill Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill Vineyard is classic as well as a pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon’s creme de cassis, tobacco, cedary character. Expressive, rich, medium to full-bodied flavors, terrific ripeness, and surprising tannin and persistence are found in this pure 2000. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Saturated dark ruby to the rim. Tight, pure aromas of black raspberry, bitter chocolate and spices. Superripe and large-scaled but rather closed today; a wine of great fullness, with powerful flavors of black raspberry, shoe polish, licorice, lead pencil, minerals and dark chocolate. Not quite as showy today as the Cariad, but this big boy may ultimately be the greater wine. Finishes with chewy, ripe tannins and superb persistence.
Bordeaux-like in its complexity, with loamy earth, dried currant, sage, chicory, cedar and sandalwood, this is trim, layered and well-proportioned, with the signature drying, earthy tannins of the vintage.
