Unanimous Acclaim for a “Long-Time Favorite” 2015 Burgundy for Under $35 - 03/07/2018 - Red Burgundy

There are a number of qualities that make the 2015 Mercurey "La Framboisiere" from Domaine Faiveley standout, but perhaps first among them is the price. Sourced from a cherished monopole vineyard, this captivating red can be had for under $35. Given the skyrocketing prices of Burgundy, this is an astounding value and one that is sure to grab the attention of many. We’ve always been fans of "La Framboisière,” but it really shines in the exceptional 2015 vintage. When we poured this beauty for our staff, everyone was immediately taken by its freshness and vitality. Bright strawberry and raspberry flavors abound and are accented by subtle spice and earthy tones. All of its components are in perfect harmony (something you don’t always find in a young wine) making it a perfect candidate to pop the cork and drink now. Faiveley has an excellent reputation and it seems the wines keep getting better and better with this 2015 being a perfect example of the great work being done. Anyone who loves a classic, fruit-driven style of Burgundy will want to get on board, as "La Framboisière" does not disappoint. The last 2015 Mercurey from Faiveley sold in a flash and we expect much the same here, so don’t think on this one too long.

2015 Domaine Faiveley Mercurey "La Framboisiere" ($34.99)

92 points James Suckling: "This is a long-time favorite and bright and vivid on the nose, displaying strawberry and stone character. Medium-bodied, silky and long with a lovely finish. Salty undertones. A linear and focused Mercurey. Drink now." (04/2017)

92 points Wine Spectator: "Packed with bright cherry, blackberry, graphite and smoke flavors, this racy and elegant red dazzles, yet stays focused and firm. The finish is still slightly austere, but the sweet fruit returns for balance and harmony. Best from 2019 through 2032. (BS)" (12/2017)

Not only is this a brilliant example of the 2015 vintage in Burgundy, it also comes with a wildly approachable price-point. Its a lush and seamless expression of Pinot Noir that shows notes of candied raspberry, dark fruit, sweet spices and clove. At $34.99 this is one to back up the truck for!

If you were lucky enough to snatch some of the 2015 Faiveley Mercurey 1er Cru Clos des Myglands before it sold out then youre keenly aware of Faiveleys prowess when it comes to fashioning top-notch Mercureys. With a winery facility located in Mercurey and a long history of farming the vineyards of Mercurey Faiveley is easily the top producer in Mercurey. The 2015 Faiveley Mercruey La Framboisiere is a masterpiece with seductive aromas of rose petal, fresh strawberries and of course raspberries. The palate is bright and unfolds seamlessly to reveal raspberry, red currant and cranberry notes. Theres great energy and thrust on the vibrant, engaging finish. A great wine for under $35!

Another spectacular offering from Domaine Faiveley for those looking to get into every day, drinking now kind of Burgundy. The nose showcases the ripeness of the '15 vintage that has everyone talking, bursting with ripe red cherry and a touch of boysenberry added. The palate is soft and supple with some integrated acid and low tannin structure. Rich red berry and spice mingle together and lead to a soft finish. At an even better price than the Myglands, I expect this to go quickly.
