2013 Ramey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Price: Hidden

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Sites from throughout the valley contribute to the lovely layering of this accessible wine, softly structured and classically inspired in its dried herb and distinct purity of cassis. Delicate despite its ripeness and power, it leaves a smoky hint of sweet tobacco on the finish. (VB)" (03/2017)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is scented of crème de cassis, ripe plums and pencil shavings with hints of sautéed herbs and beef drippings. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with concentrated black fruit and earth flavors, framed by grainy tannins and finishing with an herbal lift. (LPB)" (03/2017)

92 points Vinous: "Another delicious wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a terrific example of the year. Creamy and beautifully layered on the palate, the 2013 captures all of the pedigree of this great vintage in a style that offers a bit more immediacy than many other wines. Best of all, the Cabernet Sauvignon is a remarkable value. Bright red stone fruit, mint, white flowers and tobacco add nuance on the silky yet powerful finish. (AG)" (01/2016)

K&L Notes: Winemaker's Notes: "2013 summed up to be a perfect vintage with clear sunny days and cool evenings. This produced a long, moderate growing season with extended hang time and even ripening, resulting in silky tannins and a full range of flavors while retaining natural acidity. Our ninth vintage of this appellation Cabernet is blended from a combination of hillside and valley floor vineyards. Our style combines the harmony produced by traditional Bordelaise winemaking techniques with the voluptuousness gained from California’s weather, especially in this perfect vintage. Native-yeast fermentation. Aged sur lies to incorporate the oak, 18 months spent in 56% new barrels (three-year air dried French, 33% and American, 23%). Due to this vintage’s supple tannins, we left this wine in barrel for only 18 months. Non-filtered. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 6% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot."

Exceptional value in Napa Cab from a big name producer and a top vintage. Not often these elements all come together! Our lowest-in-the-nation price on this highly prized Cab makes it a sure-fire winner this holiday season. Ramey's 2013 Cab delivers exactly what people have come to expect from this longtime Napa (and Sonoma) stalwart. Deep, powerful dark fruits, crushed blackcurrant, loamy earth, cedar, dried herbs and cocoa powder. Underlying the abundant fruit are fine tannins, dusty/soil-driven notes and a lick of toasty oak. Accessible now but also sure to keep for another 5-10 years.

I can't say it enough - those who load up on the best deals in 2013 Napa Cab will be thankful they did for the years to come. Akin to the premium that 2007 Napa fetches these days, 2013 buyers will consider themselves savvy in the years to come. This particular one has everything going for it: One of Napa's elite producers? Check. Big vintage? Check. A price you won't find anywhere else? Double check. And the wine is stellar - everything you'd want in a $50+ Napa Cab - depth, refinement, structure, all in the right proportion. It's hard to go wrong with a top vintage selection from Ramey, and this speaks loudly to that.

It's the number one task our buying team sets out to do every single day: find the best Napa Cabernets from the best wineries for the best possible prices. Cabernet is king in California and top shelf producers like Ramey are part of that esteemed reputation. When we find a deal so good that we have to hide the price, that's how you know we've really done our homework. 2013 was a magical year for Cabernet in Napa and the wines have been tasting so delicious in their youth that cellaring them has suddenly become quite difficult (because you want to open them NOW!). This 2013 Ramey is everything our top Cabernet clients ask us for regularly: dark fruited with ripe plum and cassis, secondary notes of classic herbaceous spice, and hints of tobacco. You get the name, the vintage, the quality, the region, and wait until you see the price.
