The Return of an Incredible Le Mesnil Champagne Value - Pierre Mineral Now In-Stock - 04/20/2017 - Champagne

Last Fall we offered the 2008 vintage of Pierre Mineral's stunning Grand Cru Le Mesnil Champagne for under $40 and couldn't keep it on our shelves for more than four hours. This year's allocation, although limited, is now in-stock and we expect the same kind of excitement for another thrilling vintage. We also nabbed a small amount of the equally tantalizing "Vielle En Fut" which outclasses it's modest price-point by a mile. For those looking for under-the-radar Champagne with a big upside, look no further.

Both wines get their fruit from Grand Cru "Le Mesnil" that produces two of the most celebrated and expensive wines from Champagne (and beyond!) when attached to names like Salon and Krug. The 2009 vintage bottling of Pierre Mineral Le Mesnil easily goes toe to toe with the magnificent '08 and is one of the great values in bubbly store-wide. The "Vielle En Fut" bottling has our Champagne buyer calling out names like Selosse's Origine and Tarlant's Cuvée Louis. Both wines, like the last set of releases, drink well above their price-point and aren't long for the shelves. Secure your allocation before they're gone.

2009 Pierre Mineral Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne

2009 Pierre Mineral Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne ($39.99)

All-Mesnil grand cru bargain!!!! This wine comes from all estate-grown fruit in the grand cru of Mesnil. It is a very clean wine with pure flavors and a complex, subtle nose. The texture is silky and delicate, but the finish is quite powerful. This is a very stylish wine, and a very good deal thanks to a direct buy from the producer. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)

Pierre Mineral

Pierre Mineral "Vielle En Fut" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (Mesnil Sous Bois) ($49.99)

This Champagne is made entirely from selected grand cru estate fruit from the village of Mesnil. It is fermented and aged in 600-liter new-oak casks before being bottled and aged four years on the lees. It has a super-rich nose of vanilla, sourdough toast and Mesnil minerals. In the mouth it is very racy and dry, not nearly as broad as the rich nose suggests. I think this is one of the ultimate lobster Champagnes in our stock, and will repay five years of cellaring with a gorgeous drink. If you love Selosse's Origine and Tarlant's Cuvée Louis, this is one to try for sure! (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)
