“One Of The Wines Of The Vintage” - A Spectacular 2015 CDP That’s Not To Be Missed - 03/19/2017 - Rhone Valley

Go ahead and scroll below to Jeb Dunnuck’s sterling review of the 2015 La Ferme du Mont "Côtes Capelan" Châteauneuf-du-Pape and try not to be tempted. Sounds like a pretty awesome wine, right? It’s not often a bottle gets called “one of the wines of the vintage,” but given winemaker Stephane Vedeau’s string of successes it’s not hard to see why. Of the recent vintages in the Rhone, 2015 truly stands out as it gave producers the proper materials to build some spectacular cuvees. And that is precisely what we have here. For those who love wines that are unctuously smooth, rich and full in body, and loaded with ripe, concentrated fruit, this 2015 will be a real treat. Making things even more thrilling is the our pre-arrival price of $59.99. This is their best effort since 2010 - a wine that was released around this price and now is nearly impossible to find under $100. CDP’s collectors are sure to make a mad dash for this beauty, but given its open and accessible style wine drinks of all stripes will be charmed.

This limited production cuvee is a Grenache driven blend that spent time in both barrel and concrete - a treatment that preserves the purity of the fruit, while at same time imparting the subtle influence of oak. Perfectly composed, even at its young age, we can understand why Dunnuck says “don’t miss it.” We strongly recommend you heed his advice and pick up a few bottles or more of this truly transcendent effort.

2015 La Ferme du Mont "Côtes Capelan" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival) ($59.99)

94-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even better than the Vendange cuvee, and I suspect one of the wines of the vintage, Stephanes 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Côtes Capelan is the top wine of the estate and is made from 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, raised 70% in concrete and 30% in barrels. Theres under 500 cases of this beauty and it reveals a deep purple color as well as decadent notes of blackberries, blackcurrants, crushed rocks and melted licorice. Full-bodied, thick, unctuous and massively concentrated, with ripe tannin and a killer finish, dont miss it! If you havent figured it out yet, Stephane Vedeaus La Ferme du Mont is one of the up and coming superstars of the Southern Rhône. (JD)" (10/2016)
