2007 Korbin Kameron "Estate" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $40) ($29.99)

92 points Wine Enthusiast: " *Editors' Choice* A beautiful Cabernet, this has all the hallmarks of a fine wine. Its dry, rich in tannins and elegant, with long, deep flavors of blackberries, currants and dark chocolate. Its already throwing some sediment, so give it a careful decant." (10/2012)

K&L Notes: At 2300 feet of elevation, Korbin Kameron's estate vineyard sits on the base of Mount Veeder on the Napa/Sonoma County line. This Cabernet Sauvignon hails from a fine vintage and is beginning to develop very nicely in bottle. Blended with 5% Merlot, the wine spent 20 months in 50% new French oak. From the winery: "The nose shows hints of dark cherries, pepper, and and alluring dusty-earthiness. On the palate the structure and weight are concentrated and consistent with top Cabernets, with a balance and roundess indicative of the fruit from the ridge of the Mayacamas Range. The finish lingers nicely wiht added hints of allspice, vanilla, and juniper berry."

The Korbin Kameron estate vineyards straddle the steep Mayacamas range at 2300' between Napa and Sonoma, with much of its vines planted on ancient gravelly loam, allowing for excellent drainage and low-yields. Rigorous organic and biodynamic principles employed by veteran viticulturalist Phil Coturri ensure that the vineyards maintain optimal health, producing vibrant, concentrated fruit. Result? A poised, aromatic wine of focus and depth, imbued with attractive notes of blackberries, currants, vanilla, wet earth and spice. Polished, refined tannins accentuate the balance and restraint found in this soulful, well-crafted wine.
