The Editor of Malt Advocate, John Hansell, presented their trophy for Distillery of the Year to Peter Morehead, General Manager, Midleton Distilleries, saying; "If you want to make great whiskeys that are distinctive, start with a distilling process that is unique to your distillery and produces great quality in whiskeys. That’s precisely what is happening at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland."
