Pierre Guindon is one of the region's most esteemed producers, and this, his entry level Muscadet is brightly fruited with zesty minerality. And at just $12.99 a bottle, you can bring this to your favorite oyster bar (after checking that they don't already have it on their list, of course) pay the corkage and STILL be able to afford an extra dozen Hama Hamas to drink alongside it. Also great for trips out to Hog Island Oyster, lobster rolls or anything else briny and delicious.

There is a common misconception about wine geeks that we spend a lot of money on wine. And while we might be willing to pony up more cash for a special bottle, many of us look for everyday drinking wines that over-deliver for the price. This Muscadet sings! Packed with peachy, nectarine fruit, with a musky undercurrent and a mineral/saline finish. More going on than your average crushed oyster shell Muscadet.

Melon de Bourgogne

- A white wine grape that originated in Burgundy, Melon de Bourgogne has, sadly, essentially vanished from that region. But fans of the varietal need not despair; its virtual disappearance from this pricy zip code has not prevented it from thriving in the Loire Valley, where it is made into the affordable, zippy, mineral, citrusy wines of Muscadet that pair so well with oysters. The best of those wines come from the region Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine. It is sometimes simply referred to as Muscadet.
