2013 Domaine Pas de l'Escalette "Les Petits Pas" Languedoc

SKU #1169287

This Languedoc rosé composed of Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault and Syrah, all completely destemmed and fermented in 50 hectaliter tonneau. Importer Joli Vin says: "right red-ruby, vibrant, palate staining color. Lively aromas and flavors of black cherry, licorice, pepper and a decidedly floral/lavender dimension. Sappy, silky and concentrated. Sweet fruit and velvety texture with tons of electricity and energy. Vin de copain par excellence!"

What a surprise! Languedoc with low alcohol and good acidity? Powerful flavors of pepper and brambly dark berries, but all this stays ultra lifted and fresh. This is the total package. A killer option under $20 for summer quaffing.

It seems like forever since the last time I tasted a southern French red like this! The Pas De L'Escalette Les Petits Pas has the funky, old school, spicy, earthy fruit that I remember in Chateuneuf of days gone by. Usually I expect heat and jam from Languedoc wines, but this dry table wine is free from those distractions. It will make a great partner for a leg of lamb!
