2012 Spellbound California Cabernet Sauvignon
On the positive side of its ledger sheet, this bottling delivers a good sense of briary, fairly lively, slightly olive-tinged fruit for a Cabernet of its price, yet, while relatively inexpensive, it is not a wine that is particularly well suited to casual near-term drinking due to its rather imposing tannins. It is well worth the money, but be warned that it needs pairing with hearty foods.
This Cab is pretty good for the price. It's ripe and fruity, with a full body and rich but soft tannins. Turns a bit treacly on the finish, with a dulcet honeyed finish.
Winemaker's Notes "With the 2012 vintage, warm days cooled down by fog in the evenings allowed for the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to become rich in structure and obtain dark fruit characteristics. We are proud to offer our Cabernet Sauvignon, and hope you also find the rich textures, chocolate finish, and balanced structure as delicious as we do." - Rob Mondavi Jr., 4th Generation Napa Valley Winemaker
