Austin Hope "Troublemaker" Red Blend
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
(...made from a blend of wines from the 2010, 2011 and 2012 vintages, with the emphasis on 2011): Dark purple. Jammy dark fruit aromas are lifted by a subtle peppery note. Fleshy and straightforward, offering plump blueberry and cassis flavors and showing a bit of heat. Finishes with good power and breadth, leaving black pepper and dark berry liqueur notes behind.
(Blend 6) A racy Rhône blend, with appealing smoke, leather and blackberry aromas and zesty dried cherry, herbal, licorice and tar flavors that firm up on the tannic finish. Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel. Drink now through 2019.
From Hope Family Wines, of Liberty School and Austin Hope Winery. "Troublemaker" is a multi-vintage blend from 2010, 2011 and with an emphasis on the warmer 2012 vintage, with 54% Syrah, 22% Grenache, 13% Mourvedre and 11% Zinfandel in Blend 7. (The reviews above may be of a non-vintage bottling with a different, but similar vintage composition than this release).
