2011 Don Ventura "Viña Caneiro" Ribeira Sacra

SKU #1162923

Based in the town of Ferreira de Panton, on the west bank of the Río Sil, Ramón Losada and his family are showing what the beautiful slate terroirs of Galicia's Ribeira Sacra are capable of producing. Full of dark cherry and plum fruits, the wine is simultaneously bright and dense, with very good drive and minerality. Having recently been to Ribeira Sacra and tasted through some other folks' wines, I'm impressed by this wine's quality for the price; it may be the best value amongst our more serious, $25 and up range of Ribeira Sacras. Absolutely delicious, terroir driven and worthy of your exploration. (Joe Manekin, K&L Spanish wine buyer)

An excellent price for an excellent wine! Just a bit leaner than some of our other Ribeira offerings, but not lacking in flavor and intensity, the Caneiro benefits from its steep, slate filled vineyards and is loaded with minerality. Its flavors of elegant and bitter raspberry are backed up by mouth-coating tannins.
Top Value! Drink from 2014 to 2019
