2012 Château Musar Rosé Bekaa Valley
Château Musar is Lebanon's most famous producer. The winery does not make rosé every vintage, because the winemaker (the late Serge Hochar) sought very specific characteristics from the grapes he uses to create a fine, delicate and elegant rosé. The 2012 is composed of the indigenous Lebanese grapes Obaideh (55-65%) and Merwah (30-40%), thought to be ancestors of Chardonnay and Semillon, and a small amout of Cinsault. From the winery: "Elegant salmon pink in colour, this fragrant rosé has aromas of peaches, white fruits and flowers, basil with a hint of rosewater and mint. Smooth and well-balanced, with apricots, white peaches, and herb flavours, it finishes on fresh yet lingering citrusy notes."
