Light gold. Vibrant, mineral-accented bouquet evokes honey, pear skin, jasmine and beeswax. Racy and dry, with strong lemon and pear flavors and an exotic hint of anise on the back end. The long finish is stony and focused, with a lingering note of talc.
Deep straw. Made from 80- to 100-year-old vines apparently. Deep appley aromas. Real structure on the palate with extremely dense, appetising fruit. A certain Chablis structure with slightly lower acidity - in fact I wouldn't mind slightly more. This tastes as though it will age very well although it's already drinking well. A little attractive quinine bitterness on the finish for the moment. Excellent wine. 17/20 points. Drink 2012-2017.

The 2010 Almalarga is a pure 80-to100-year-old Godello vines from slate and stony soils 450 to 600 feet in altitude. The wine is aged on their lees for four months. It has a well-defined bouquet with touches of pink grapefruit and nectarine, a timid bouquet that demands coaxing. The palate is medium-bodied with a slight waxy texture on the entry. It has good acidity and a pleasant build in the mouth, leading to an understated spice-tinged finish. Fine. Drink now-2017.
This juicy, succulent, yellow-fruited beauty shows the potential of Godello grapes grown in the high elevation vineyards of the rugged Ribera Sacra D.O. in Galicia. This is produced from south-facing, 100% Godello vines (some as old as 100 years).
