2010 Simi "Landslide Vineyard" Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Simi’s 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Landslide possesses an attractive dusty, loamy soil undertone mixed with red and black currant fruit, nice spice and medium body. It is a good, solidly made, competent, serviceable Cabernet to consume over the next 7-8 years. (RP)
This is a very good Cabernet, dry, full-bodied and rich in black currants...
Winemaker's notes: "Simi Landslide Cabernet Sauvignon reflects our dramatic estate vineyard in the Alexander Valley where the fruit for this wine was grown. We blended in 4% Cabernet Franc to add an element of spice and cassis, and 5% Merlot to add softness and suppleness. Small amounts of Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Tannat add even more dimension to the aromatics and rich fruit flavors. During fermentation, the developing wine remained on the skins for 35 days to increase extraction and color. We followed this primary fermentation with malolactic fermentation for all of the wine before aging it in small French oak barrels (50% new) for 28 months." Try with venison chop and blackberry compote, roasted mushroom and caramelized onion linguine with balsamic reduction.
