2006 Taittinger Brut Champagne

SKU #1152330 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Pale gold. Mineral-laced pear and melon aromas are complicated by dried fig and jasmine. Dry and precise on entry, then fleshier with air, offering ripe orchard fruit and lemon pith flavors with a refreshingly bitter edge. Finishes energetic and spicy, with lingering notes of candied ginger and buttered toast. (11/ 2013)

92 points Wine Enthusiast

This is a soft, finely formed wine, ripe, smooth and creamy. It has elegance, a light touch of fruit and acidity with some minerality from the Chardonnay in the blend. It’s a vintage that is already drinkable, with just a touch of toast suggesting maturing. A beautiful wine, drink now. (6/ 2014)

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Comprising roughly equal parts Pinot and Chardonnay, Taittinger’s 2006 Brut illustrates the delicacy for which their Champagnes are known, with a clarity and primary juiciness that combine for admirable nuance as well as refreshment. White peach, pineapple and lime are garlanded with honeysuckle, lily-of-the-valley and mint, with subtle suggestions of piquant peach kernel, saline sweetness of raw scallop, and pungency of lightly toasted grains serving for further intrigue and allure. This bottling need not apologize in the least for its sense of finishing sweetness, as that merely reinforces its luscious fruitiness within diminishing the refreshment or next-sip-inducement to be derived. It may well prove fascinating to follow this for a couple of years in bottle, but given its buoyant, forthcoming and fruit-dominated personality, I would not want to miss out on enjoying it soon. K&L Notes

This great bottle of vintage Champagne shows off the sunny 2006 vintage to perfection. It is composed of half and half Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and has a creamy texture and excellent, tiny, tight bead. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)
