2011 La Tour de By, Médoc (Pre-Arrival)
This has solid plum, cassis and chocolate notes, with a hint of savory herb for added freshness. Shows good cut on the finish. (Web-2012)
Deep dark crimson. Very sweet cherries and vanilla on the nose, linctus-like. But there's also a floral note and some darker fruit. On the palate, a nice savoury character comes through and cuts through that initial sweetness rather well. Plenty of fruit on the mid palate. Chalky tannins and fresh overall. Dry finish. Drink 2017 to 2025.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
I have liked Tour de By, a very reliable Cru Bourgeois, for over thirty years. The 2011, a final blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, is a soft, easygoing, bistro-styled, character-filled red that should drink well for 2-3 years.
